About the Artist
French and African, Tiam has lived between Paris, New York, and Puerto Rico, where he works out of his art studio on a small remote island. There, he builds each work through vinyl decoupage — layering cut vinyl onto aluminum, canvas, glass, and oxidized steel into dense, sculptural surfaces — alongside a body of freestanding figurative sculpture in clay, metal, and found material.
A former Broadway dancer, Tiam draws his compositions' rhythm from movement, and his forms from tribal symbolism — gesture and ritual mark held together in a single surface.
